Policy Recommendations

The Nehemiah Initiative is committed to enacting real change by empowering historically Black churches with the knowledge and tools to develop their property with community interests in mind. Though there are many ways that churches can begin this work today, there is also an opportunity to work alongside City staff and leaders to guide improvements and additions to policy that may make it easier in the future. University of Washington students will submit a policy memo in June 2020 to these decision makers to inform them of the wants and needs of the community and give suggestions for how policies can be shaped to incorporate these interests.
